He, of course, lied about his age but got excepted into the army. In the army, he served in the Korean war for not too long, then was transferred to Camp Washington. At Camp Washington, Slade was promoted to the ranking of Major in the army. After being countlessly held at such a noble, serious, and brave soldier status and being promoted through each rank. Slade eventually in the 1960's met Captain Adeline Kane. Adeline Kane became Slade's instructor/superior. Slade was skeptical since Adeline was a woman, but he saw her and how she instructed and her fighting techniques, which made him respect her more.
